Custom KC-02 Builds Report - Carbon Hogue #02 and #03
Well, it's been a long journey to get these 2 more additions to our Carbon Hogue line finished! Roughly a year and a half as they started in late 2023!
Following on from the original CH#01 we built for Silly Ghillie a couple years ago, this pair CH#02 and CH#03 unfortunately ran into the cold, bad weather of winter in November 2024 before we were able to properly test them so we were limited in how much we could test them until recently when the UK got some very welcome warm weather in April and May 2025.
The goals for these 2 builds were the same as before - as light as possible, with extreme long range accuracy.

Build Progress pics
Arrival of the base guns from UK wholesaler, and the Hogue stocks from Brownells from the USA.
They look like this for about 12 seconds in my hands....
Removing rear receiver tangs with the bandsaw
Installing steel thread helicoils in the receivers for strength
Respraying the receivers, 3 coats of satin black hammerite
Rear tangs all gone, steel threads installed, paint jobs complete on the 2 far ones
Modifying the Hogue stocks to suit the airsoft receivers
Fits like a glove!
Stripping the trigger mechs down for several days of cleaning, polishing, adjusting...
Polishing key parts of the trigger mech
Perfect re-assembly, always keeping them paired with their receivers
The PPT Carbon barrels finally arrive! Damn, they're sexy! And weigh almost nothing!
The EDGI custom steel inner barrels arrive
Perfecting the hop rubber alignment in the barrels
The most important part of assembly - getting the barrel and rail perfectly attached to the receiver, everything straight and balanced on the clamps. Look at all the tools around me...
Perfection, ready to install and begin testing!
When installing in a Hogue stock, you hook the trigger mech in first then squeeze the front of the rail on the barrel until it snaps down into place
Both assembled and underlevers installed
Beginning the indoor testing to bed in the parts
More indoor testing through the winter
Gotta have scopes that are up to the task for high-precision shooting at 80m+ away
Winter testing for gas guns is very hard
Finally, some weather warm enough and calm enough for a proper 8-hour test session outdoors
71m target
Setup on the fence, jacket and bipod for support. Notice the phone in the holder for the zoom video!
When the guns can land multiple hits in a row on torso and head-size targets at 70 - 80m with predictable hop response and very few fliers, they are finally ready for customers.
We will not ship the guns out until they perform well enough to meet our standard. 70% hits at long range! Even with a breeze! It's very impressive for an airsoft gun.
